Fall at work results in partial Tetraplegia

A seven figure settlement was obtained for a client that suffered partial tetraplegia as a result of fall at work. The award covered claims for loss of income, care and equipment such as mobility aids, including wheelchairs for indoor and outside use, as well as funding for suitable accommodation.

Successful Mesothelioma compensation claim

A six figure compensation sum was obtained for a living client suffering mesothelioma after exposure to asbestos in employments during the 1960’s, 70’s & 80’s.  He underwent invasive treatment and chemotherapy, suffering hair loss, bruising and tiredness, and expected to suffer worsening pain leading to eventual death, with a loss of life expectancy reduced from over 15 years to less than 1 year. Damages agreed covered claims for general damages, future loss of pecuniary benefit in lost years together with future care & assistance, other losses and expenses

Knee injury

A substantial settlement was obtained for a client who tripped as a result of a hazard caused by renovations at her workplace. She needed an operation for a fracture to her left kneecap. Despite the surgery and several months off work, the client did not make a full recovery. She developed anxiety in relation to a risk of further injury made worse by further falls both by herself and a colleague at work. There was a dispute as to the whether her decision to reduce her working hours was triggered by her injuries.

Ladder injury

A client came to us shortly before the deadline for making a claim; she had put this off as she did not want to upset her employers. She had been injured when a ladder left propped against some shelving in a storeroom had fallen on her. Due to the deadline, there was no opportunity to present the claim before issuing court proceedings. The claim was settled within 6 months.

Service man injured overseas

Our client was out on patrol in an armoured personnel carrier, when the carrier was overturned, falling down a bank into a river. Our client, along with a number of his fellow servicemen, was injured. He suffered permanent injuries and was unable to continue in the Armed Services. A substantial award was obtained to compensate him for the impact on his Army career.
